My book club meeting is tonight (yes, Tonya can read!). Obviously, due to social distancing, we are meeting via zoom. Also due to social distancing, I actually had time to read the book! Whoa!
We’re currently reading a book called The Widows of Malabar Hill by Sujata Massey. It’s a mystery set in India in the early 1900’s, so I thought tonight we should have a drink to match! When I think of India, I always think of spices.
I did a lot of searching for different cocktails, and there were some amazing looking ones. But in the end, I decided to make up my own cocktail
Chai Syrup:
1/2 c. chai spiced tea
1/2 c. sugar
Brew a strong cup of chai spiced tea. Heat and stir in sugar in a 1:1 ratio. Stir until completely dissolved, then chill before using.

Chai Martini:
1 1/2 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Chai Syrup
1/2 oz. Lime juice
Ginger Beer
Orange Slice / Cinnamon Stick
Put vodka and chai syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake until very cold. Pour into a martini glass and top with ginger beer. Garnish with an orange slice or a cinnamon stick.
Enjoy!
