This week, I’m going to give you my Top 5 cocktails that I like to serve when I host a cocktail party. Let’s start with a classic 2-ingredients drink. And of course a little story…
When I was in college, I was working at a radio station, and I had a much older boss named Bill. He was a person who told it like it was and always sought for truth and a good story. He was a mentor and he was a fantastic guy to work for. I learned a lot about radio from Bill. And he bought me my first legal drink. The night before I turned 21, my boss and a bunch of my co-workers took me out so that we could have a drink at midnight as I turned the legal drinking age.
But Bill insisted that if he was going to buy me a drink, it had to be what he chose. And he chose the gin gimlet – the kind made famous by the 1953 Raymond Chandler novel The Long Goodbye.
Gin Gimlet:
1 1/2 oz. gin
1 1/2 oz. Rose’s Lime Juice
Pour gin and lime juice over ice. Stir gently to mix.
