Well…it was really a shock when we heard the passing of Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts at the age of 80 this past week just after announcing he wouldn’t be touring on the band’s No Filter Tour that kicks off next month.  Charlie was going in for a procedure that would require some rest and time off for a while.  For us…well…ok…Steve Jordan from the Xpensive Winos would be filling in while Charlie recovered.  I thought Charlie would pull through just like he did when he beat throat cancer in 2004 just in time to join the sessions for the Stones Bigger Bang album and a subsequent two year tour. It took me days to recoil from this one…heck, I’ve been a Stones fan since hearing them perform Satisfaction of The Ed Sullivan Show (dating myself…sorry) and many albums and tours later.  I just wanted to say that when it comes to “un rock stars” playing in one of the greatest rock and roll bands…that was Charlie…humble…grateful…honest…husband…father…grandfather, and a man who was a band drummer…to drive the bus instead of being a star.  Charlie…you are big time just being you…Rock and Roll Heaven will be honored to have you behind the kit and just being you. As a fan RIP to a wonderful human being…
