I can’t believe it. October 1979 Duluth Arena, Duluth, Minnesota…THE RETURN OF KISS!!!! Yes, the Hottest Band In The Land was coming back to D-Town on their Dynasty Tour! Now…to make a long story short, we had seen Kiss perform in ’76, ’77, and ’78 and a lot of us in our “tour caravan” had gone and I figured I’d see them again( a well spent ten bucks…maybe a little more with some merch). Had to do this one solo my friends? First off, no wheels, so I asked my mother to drop me off…(what a trooper…she waited ALL DAY and picked me up after the show!) While waiting for the venue to open we literally bumped into this guy who asked us how to get in to the arena. Looked like this dude was official enough…laminates, other rockers with him and so on…ended up being John Cougar And The Zone…the special guests that night. Judas Priest was supposed to open, but what the hey…little did we know how big this guy was going to become! The venue opened, hit the merch stand for a program and tour jersey that put me back about $7 bucks grabbed a refreshment and raced to the front of the stage where I hung out until after Kiss closed their performance. One of the highlights of the evening was having one of Peter Criss’ drumsticks glance off the top of my head after his drum solo! Besides having a knot on my head, walking back to the car with a sweat soaked program and t-shirt it was another banner night of Rock And Roll!
