“Somewhere You Feel Free: The Making Of Tom Petty’s Wildflowers” documentary was just released and it takes you behind the scenes of the making of his iconic 1994 solo project “Wildflowers.” There are number of never seen before archival footage of Tom Petty at home, writing the songs, in studio, and of course, Tom Petty’s spot on humor! This film will let you know the deep down talent of one of the best songwriters in rock and roll and his philosophies of his craft as well. Tom wanted this to be a solo album and not a Heartbreakers album. You’ll see some of his band involved and some new faces lending their talents to this project. Also, a new producer, Rick Ruben takes the reigns in creating this masterpiece. There are interviews past and present about what went in to making “Wildflowers” and how it was finally decided to become a single album after thirty songs were recorded. Of course, some surprises including Ringo Starr and Carl Wilson of The Beach Boys on a few tracks. We had the honor of the release of “Wildflowers And All The Rest” released in 2020 to hear all the songs recorded for that record and now this documentary gives the insight of what Tom Petty gave us in his music that will live on forever.
