The Rolling Stones released their album “Some Girls” on this date in 1978.  Released 45 years ago today this work from the World’s Greatest Rock And Roll Band proved a pivotal project in the career of the Stones.

This record was Ronnie Wood’s first album as a full-time member of the band.  “Some Girls” was recorded when disco and punk rock ruled and the Stones definitely bounced back after releasing “Black And Blue” in 1976 and beginning a slight decline in their careers.

Four significant hits came out of this project that included “Shattered,” “Respectable,” “Beast Of Burden,” and their number one hit in the U.S. “Miss You.”

The album was also known for its controversial jacket that included  photos of Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball, Farah Fawcett, Judy Garland, and Raquel Welch allegedly used without permission.  How many of us have BOTH album covers!

The Stones promoted “Some Girls” with a 26 date tour of the U.S. in 1978 and with a sprinkling of punk, dance and the raunchy licks only the Stones can produce, The World’s Greatest Rock And Roll Band once again found their spot on top.
