Turning 50 is big milestone for a lot of us; for rock albums celebrating their 50th and still remaining timeless classics today says a lot about the artists that put their mark in music history as well as their staying power. So let’s break out some cake and celebrate the golden anniversary of these classic albums:
Bob Dylan “Blood On The Tracks (To coincide with his biopic “A Complete Unknown”)
Fleetwood Mac “Fleetwood Mac” (The first album with new members Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks)
Neil Young “Tonight’s The Night” (Most of the album was recorded live in the studio August-September 1973 and was released in 1975)
Pink Floyd “Wish You Were Here” (A tribute to Pink Floyd’s co-founder Syd Barrett)
Led Zeppelin “Physical Graffiti” (Their sixth album and first to be released from their new Swan Song Records)
Queen “A Night At The Opera” ( Scaramouche, Fandango, Figaro, Beelzebub, Mismillah…a rock staple!)
And David Bowie “Young Americans” (A then-unknown singer named Luther Vandross was part of the backing vocals for the sessions)
So drop the needle on these classic albums that withstood the test of time and celebrate 50 more years!
