Space may be the final frontier, but for William Shatner, the next frontier will be a heavy metal album! The Star Trek actor announced yesterday that he will be releasing a new metal album featuring covers of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden, as well as original material.

Teaming up with thirty-five metal virtuosos, the 94-year-old Shatner aims to blend massive guitars with his distinctive spoken word style. The project was inspired by a collaboration with Nuclear Messiah and a gift of a guitar from Zakk Wylde, leading to the creation of a full metal record.

Shatner describes the venture as an exploration into the unknown and invites fans to join him on this interstellar journey in heavy metal.
