A feature film based on the legendary American rock band Bon Jovi is in the works with Universal Pictures backing the project.

According to Deadline Hollywood, screenwriter Cody Brotter has been tapped to write the screenplay for the film, which is currently in early development with no director attached yet. The project is being produced by Kevin J Walsh and Gotham Chopra of Religion of Sports, with Universal’s Jacqueline Garell overseeing the film for the studio.

The movie will focus on the band’s early years, and show Bon Jovi’s rise to fame, from their humble beginnings in New Jersey to selling over 130 million albums.

Bon Jovi, formed in 1983, achieved global fame with hits like “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “You Give Love a Bad Name.”
