‘Tattoo You’ is generally regarded as the Rolling Stones’ last great album, recorded during a period when they were still considered one of the greatest bands on the planet. The album was a culmination of leftover material from previous albums like ‘Goats Head Soup,’ ‘Black and Blue,’ and ‘Some Girls,’ with Mick Jagger recording new vocals and instrumental sections to complete the songs.
The album features a mix of hard and soft sides, with defining tracks like “Start Me Up,” “Neighbours,” “Worried About You,” and “Waiting on a Friend,” showcasing the band’s diverse musical range. ‘Tattoo You’ continued the Rolling Stones’ streak of No. 1 albums, staying at the top of the chart for nine weeks, and marked the end of their most creative period, representing their last bid for the world’s-greatest-rock-‘n’-band title.
