This may seem hard to believe, but, it’s just another strange story in the annals of rock and roll. It’s early March in Toronto in 1977 and a crowd of 300 special guests who won tickets to see April Wine with special guests The Cockroaches start streaming in to the El Mocambo and get ready for the show. Surprisingly, April Wine takes the stage, finish their set and moments later The Rolling Stones take the stage in one of their two secret concerts at the club…plus, the show is recorded and now all the faithful Stones fans can relive that magical night at the El Mocambo! Only four selections from those shows were mixed for the Stones “Love You Live” album that was released in the fall of 1977 and now the full show is here for us to enjoy. “Live at The El Mocambo 1977” has just been released and is available on a variety of formats. For a little taste of the excitement, here are the Stones opening their show with “Honky Tonk Women”. And the Stones are still rolling and will kick off theor 60th Anniversary tour June 1st in Madrid, Spain.
