Many of us carry a special place in our hearts for a certain song: what we were doing, where we were, some special event that makes us think of a certain song we heard. Well, it was late summer 1976 when my mother and I were coming back from Woolworth’s at the local mall, passed the Frostop on the hill before we were just about home…AND THEN…on the FM rock radio station the disc jockey announced the song “More Than A Feeling” from a band named Boston! What was I to do? Mom and I just finished our shopping and I sort of asked her BEFORE turning the car around if we could go back to the mall…think I forgot something(lame excuse, but effective). Mom knew too well that her “baby boy” was a rock and roll junkie and said it was ok…and told me where the electronics and music section was at Woolworths (Mom and her never failing E.S.P.). I ran in, heart beating faster than the speed of sound, having THAT SONG in my head and then…NO BOSTON ALBUM! The clerk told me they sold out, but had it on eight track. OK…had an eight track player at home and continued to play it until…well…just last night when I threw in the CD and that same feeling hit me again Forty-plus years later! When songs are played and we can have that moment once again is so special…the power of music to fill us with such emotion for so many years…I thank you Boston and the rest of the artists that put the power of music in us every day!
