Today is the first day I’m officially working from home. I have a studio set up in my kitchen, and have an adorable new co-worker (my dog, Diamond).

Cutest co-worker ever!

In an effort to try to make time at home more enjoyable, I’m mixing up some drinks in my kitchen. I think we can all use a nice cocktail hour at the end of the day, so each day (week? Time has no meaning anymore, so I’ll post them when I can), I’ll be featuring a different drink on my blog.

Yes, I’m calling them Quarantinis. No, they will (probably) not all be martinis.

But I figured that the initial one should be a martini, so… first up:

A Classic Martini

Ingredients:

2 1/2 oz. Gin (or Vodka, if that’s your thing)

1/2 oz. Vermouth

Olives or Lemon Peel to garnish

Personally, I like my martinis shaken so that they are very cold, but some prefer a stirred martini. EITHER IS FINE! You drink it how you like it. I also like mine extra dirty, so I pour a little olive juice in with my gin. I prefer them dry, too, so I only use a splash of Vermouth, not the whole amount.

Pour all ingredients over ice into a shaker or large glass. Shake or stir. Pour into a martini glass and drink like you’re James Bond.

Cheers!
