I realized that we have not yet had a Quarantini with tequila. That changes right now.

I like the Tequila Sunrise because it really only has 3 simple ingredients that most people already have in their home bar. It also looks really cool.

No, the drink is not named after the Eagles song – it’s the other way around, according to Wikipedia.

Apparently, the drink became popular due in part to another band – The Rolling Stones, who were served the Tequila Sunrise at a party and then started requesting it as they toured the country.

Tequila Sunrise

1 1/2 oz. tequila (I used Cabo Wabo)

3 oz. orange juice

1/2 oz. grenadine

Orange slice and maraschino cherry to garnish

Place ice cubes in a tall glass. Pour tequila and orange juice over the ice and stir well. Now comes the complicated part of the Tequila Sunrise… Slowly pour the grenadine into the glass over the back of a spoon or by drizzling it down the side of the glass. As it sits, it will settle at the bottom. Don’t stir, or it won’t look like a sunrise.

The only way I see a sunrise, because I’m a night owl!

Oh, and in case you need to sing along while you drink this one…
